Release Notes

Product updates and fixes grouped by month. We publish new highlights as releases ship.

October 2026

Features

Plan Checklist: A new Plan Checklist page lists what's missing or needs attention in your plan, most important first. Alerts also appear on the relevant pages, where you can fix most of them in a slide-out drawer with a guide. The next best action on Home now comes straight from your checklist.

Change Interest Rate: A new life event lets you plan for a rate rise or cut on a loan or savings account, showing how your repayments and interest change over the rest of the loan.

Dividend Reinvestment: Shares portfolios can now reinvest dividends instead of paying them out as cash. Reinvested dividends still count as taxable income.

Vehicle Trade-in: The Buy Vehicle event now lets you trade in an existing vehicle, and has a new chart showing the vehicle's value over time.

Click to Add Events in Plan Builder: You no longer need to drag and drop to add events in the Plan Builder. Click or tap "Add new event" in any year column, pick an event, and its form opens with that year already selected. You can also change the year from the event form, and drag and drop still works for adding and moving events. This makes building your plan much easier on mobile.

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

Home on Mobile: The Home page, event drawer and event picker are now much better optimised for mobile.

Life Expectancy on Monte Carlo: The Chance of Success (Monte Carlo) chart now shows life expectancy lines.

Initial View on Entity Pages: Fixed items that end during the first year of your plan, like a debt you pay off, missing from the Initial view on the Assets, Debts, Income, Expenses and Real Estate pages.

HELP Repayment Income: HELP debt repayment calculations now count all reportable super contributions.

September 2026

Features

Redesigned Entity Pages: Assets, debts, real estate, money flows, expenses, people and settings have all moved to a consistent new page design, with editing now handled in a slide-out sheet. Expenses can also be edited one at a time rather than as a whole set.

Savings Comparison: Scenario Comparison has a new savings chart and section, so you can see side by side how your savings build up under each scenario.

Franking Credits: Australian shares pay dividends with tax already paid on them. You can now switch franking on for a share or managed fund and set the franked percentage.

Transfer Super: A new life event lets you move a super balance from one fund to another. Useful for modelling a consolidation, or a transfer into an account based pension when you don't intend to move the full balance.

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

Unsaved Changes Warning: If you start editing assets, debts, money flows, expenses or people and navigate away without saving, Canwi now asks before discarding your changes.

Out of Cash Warnings: The out-of-cash marker now appears on all Basic plan charts and in the year headers of the plan detail tables, so you'll see it wherever you're looking.

Age Pension Milestone: Fixed the People page milestone showing the last year the Age Pension is received instead of the first.

Performance: Reworked how the app fetches and caches plan data, meaning fewer redundant loads and faster navigation between pages.

August 2026

Features

Security Page: Manage your password and passkeys from the new Security page.

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

FY27 Super Caps: Updated the Maximum Super Contribution Base and concessional contribution caps to the latest FY27 figures.

Retire Event Dollar Input: You can now choose whether the initial value for fixed amount withdrawals in the Retire event is entered in today's dollars or actual dollars.

Super Guarantee Contributions: Fixed a bug where Super Guarantee contributions could default to an account based pension.

Onboarding Rent Expense: Fixed rent expenses being dropped when saving expenses for the first time during onboarding.

Scenario End Year: Fixed a bug preventing Starter users from updating the Scenario End Year.

July 2026

Features

Chance of Success (Monte Carlo): Your main plan runs on one deterministic version of the future — with steady average rates every year. Chance of Success stress-tests your plan against a thousand volatile futures so you know how it holds up when returns and inflation don't follow a single rate. We run your plan 1,000 times, each with its own sequence of market returns and inflation — some years up 20%, some years down 10% — and count how many times your money lasts the distance. That's your Chance of Success: 82% means your plan held up in 820 of those futures; the other 180 hit a rough patch of returns or sustained high inflation.

Referrals: You can now refer a friend to Canwi Plus and you'll both get a reward.

Lump Sum Super Withdrawals: You can now model lump sum withdrawals from superannuation, either as a standalone event or as part of shortfall funding priorities. This unlocks opportunities to arrange plans around the minimum drawdown from super or a fixed amount/rate, with lump sum withdrawals made automatically to cover lumpy expense years.

2027 Budget Changes: The proposed negative gearing and CGT changes are now on by default in your plan (previously required toggling on), reflecting the legislated changes. The Working Australians Tax Offset model setting has been removed.

Updated Tax Rates: Updated tax thresholds from the FY27 budget are now reflected across the model.

Reopen Closed Super Accounts: Making a contribution to a closed accumulation fund now automatically reopens it.

SAPTO: Added support for the Seniors and Pensioners Tax Offset via a model setting (on by default).

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

People Milestones: Milestones now show your spouse or partner's age alongside yours where a partner is present.

Tax Tab Dependents: Dependents without taxable income are now filtered out from the Tax tab in the Yearly Financial Breakdown.

HELP Debt Indexation: Fixed an order of operations issue where HELP debt indexation was being applied in the first year when a plan starts after 1 June.

Default Super Growth Rate: Fixed a bug where adding another income source during onboarding was incorrectly defaulting the super growth rate for the default created super account to 12%.

Vehicle Depreciation: Fixed a bug with adjustment-based modifiers that was incorrectly affecting depreciation on planned vehicle purchases.

Property History Form: Fixed a form validation issue on the property history form that was preventing the form from submitting when there was a Deeming event.

Childcare Form: Fixed a validation error that was preventing the Childcare form from submitting.

June 2026

Features

Updated Plan Screen Design: The future plan screens - Summary, Plan Builder, and Plan Tables - have all been refreshed. Plan Builder now supports narrower columns with preset views for Cashflow, Wealth, and Cashflow + Savings, plus a flexible custom view. Alerts now appear underneath years so drawdown from savings, liquidation of assets from shortfall funding priorities, and running out of cash are easier to spot. Mobile support has been improved and iconography has been refined throughout.

Negative Gearing Changes: Added support for the proposed negative gearing changes that would limit negative gearing to new properties only, with grandfathering and carry-forward of losses for properties not eligible. Enable this as a model setting to model the impact on your plan if the changes proceed. Off by default as the changes are not yet legislated.

Working Australians Tax Offset: Added support for the new $250 Working Australians Tax Offset announced in the recent Federal Budget, available to those with employment income. Enable this as a model setting to see how it affects your tax position. Off by default until legislated.

Shortfall Funding Priorities: When your plan hit a cashflow shortfall, Canwi would draw from cash accounts only — with no way to control the order or sequencing. Shortfall Funding Priorities changes this — you can now define which accounts to draw from first, set target balances to preserve for emergencies, choose which liquid assets to sell, and configure an emergency drawdown order. Canwi handles the rest automatically.

Income Tax Projection: Added an income tax projection chart so you can see how your tax position tracks across the life of your plan.

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

Aged Pension: Fixed an edge case where a small negative tax impact was recorded when the aged pension amount was $0.

Move Homes Form: Fixed form validation issues on the Move Homes event form.

Page Consistency: Tidied up spacing across the Income, Expense, Asset, and Debt pages for a more consistent look and feel, with additional tooltips and explainers added throughout.

Super Rates Display: Fixed a bug with how superannuation rates were presented for plans starting in H2 2025.

May 2026

Features

CGT Indexation Method: Added support via a model setting for the new CGT indexation method coming into effect from July 2027. Until legislated, the default remains the current 50% discount — but you can now select the indexation method as a scenario setting to model the impact on your capital gains tax calculations. Includes support for the Centrelink (Aged Pension) exemption from the 30% minimum CGT rate.

Scenario Settings UX: Scenario settings now tracks unsaved changes and surfaces discard and save controls, so you always know when you have changes pending.

Quick Settings Sheet: Scenario settings are now accessible from the Quick Settings sheet for faster adjustments without navigating away from your plan.

Transfer Cash Event: Added a new event to transfer cash between accounts in your plan.

Move Homes Event: Added a new event to model changing your main residence, handling scenarios from renting and buying a property through to renting out your current home and moving into a new one.

Cashflow Priorities for Planned Assets & Debts: The Change Cashflow Priorities form now supports planned assets and debts, giving you more control over drawdown order across your full plan.

Minor Updates & Bug Fixes

Infrastructure Upgrade: Updated core infrastructure dependencies to keep Canwi on modern, supported versions.

Cashflow Projection Table: Restricted granular cashflow projection detail to Canwi Plus subscribers.

Six Year Rule: Fixed another edge case in the application of the six year rule for investment properties.

Taxable Income Fix: Fixed incorrect taxable income calculations for plans starting in the second half of the financial year.

Property Purchase Offset: Fixed a bug where newly created offsets were incorrectly factored into property purchase cost calculations.

Downsizer Eligibility: Former Main Residences are now correctly recognised as eligible properties for downsizer contributions.

Offset Account Validation: Filtered out invalid debt types from the Offset Against field when setting up an offset account.

Super Rollovers: Fixed an issue where fixed amount super rollovers were not saving correctly on the form.

Income Breakdown Charts: Added Superannuation Income Streams to the Income Breakdown charts.

Retirement Income Section: Updated the Retirement Income section to include all income sources.

Assets Form: Removed Cash from the Assets form — cash accounts are now added and managed via the Cash Account form.

Plan Tables Income Fix: Fixed a bug filtering out Remuneration Income and Government Benefits from the Plan Tables view.
